IRON SKY Getting British Theatrical Re-Release With 20 Additional Minutes

Director Timo Vuorensola’s moon Nazis are about to invade British cinemas for a second time.

Variety is reporting that the crowdfunded cult hit Iron Sky will be getting a second release in British theaters, but this time it will feature an additional 20 minutes of footage so the film will conform to “the director’s original vision.” Although it is not stated, this additional footage is presumably at least partially made up of the new visual effects material that was previewed last year. The re-release comes ahead of home video release scheduled for February 2014.

A combination of ridiculous pulp adventure and sharp social and political satire, Iron Sky earned itself a cult audience in the US through various one-off screenings and on home video for its story of a Nazi moon base hidden on the dark side of the movie that comes out of hiding after seven decades. There is no word yet as to when this new, longer cut will be seen in the US. A sequel, Iron Sky: The Coming Race, is currently being developed.
