The long awaited Super Troopers 2, the sequel to comedy troop Broken Lizard’s 2001 breakout comedy, finally has a release date. The movie will be arriving in theaters next year on April 20.
The group made the announcement today on Facebook.
And yes, our first thought was that this would have been a better date for their promised Pot Fest.
Almost since its release in 2001, fans have been looking for the Broken Lizard guys to return to their rowdy Vermont State Trooper characters for a followup. A number of dates were announced as possible shooting starts, but nothing ever came about. Eventually it was revealed that a “legal thing” between the group and Fox Searchlight that was partially responsible for the delay. The group raised the money for the production in 2015 in an IndieGoGo campaign that met its $2 million goal in just 26 hours.
