Nine Films On Oscar Foreign Film Shortlist

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced yesterday the list of nine foreign language films that are on the short list for this year’s Academy Awards nominations. From the nine, five films will be nominated for Academy members to vote on. The nominations will be announced next Tuesday.

The nine potential nominees are-

  • Outside the Law – Algeria
  • Incendies – Canada
  • In a Better World – Denmark
  • Dogtooth – Greece
  • Confessions – Japan
  • Biutiful – Mexico
  • Life Above All – South Africa
  • Even the Rain – Spain
  • Simple Simon – Sweden

I think all those movies on that list deserve to be there for sure. I remember last year I was pulling for South Africa’s film White Wedding since it was the only foreign film to ever make me laugh. If you never saw it, you should definitely check it out. http://whiteweddingmovie.com/
