THE WOLVERINE Undergoing A Rewrite

Another delay for Twentieth Century Fox’s The Wolverine.

This time, the film’s script by Christopher McQuarrie is getting an overhaul from writer Mark Bomback. Let’s think about that for a moment. A screenplay written by the writer of The Usual Suspects is being rewritten by the guy responsible for the scripts for Live Free Or Die Hard, Unstoppable, and the remake of Race To Witch Mountain.

Variety is stating that the rewrites are being done to accommodate a new character, Viper, who they describe as “the Caucasian scretary for Japan’s Minister of Justice.” Comics fans will probably know that the character has a long and tangled history with Wolverine.

Recently, it looked as if problems in securing filming locations in Japan would push back the film’s start date from this fall to next spring. The news about the rewrite is also being accompanied with statements that the film is now definite for shooting next year, which seems a given.
