He’s been worshiped by fans for years but Nathan Fillion will be raised to actual godhood for the upcoming Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightening Thief sequel Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Sea Of Monsters. Fillion will be playing Hermes, the messenger of the Greek gods who also happens to be the father of Luke, the series’s main bad guy.Luke and his father don’t see eye-to-eye, so don’t expect that Fillion will be taking a turn as a bad guy/god.
I know what some of you are probably thinking – “They’re making a sequel to The Lightening Thief?!” While the film didn’t seem to become quite sensation that the Harry Potter books and films which inspired the Percy Jackson series did, it still managed to make over $226 million at the box office, so studio Twentieth Century Fox is keen on seeing if a follow up can yield similar numbers.
Chris Columbus directed the first film, but perhaps producers are thinking that they will have better luck with the more mythologically-named Thor Freudenthal (Diary Of A Wimpy Kid).
Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Sea Of Monsters will be hitting theaters in 2013.
