SDCC 2012: MAN OF STEEL Poster Released

Meh.

The poster seems to exemplify Warner Brothers’ mistaken idea that dark and gritty is the way to go with all of their DC characters. The only thing missing is Superman listening to a emo band on his iPod earbuds.

I’ll add my voice to the chorus of dissenters on the web, and say that while there might be many DC characters that would benefit from a darker treatment, Superman isn’t one of them. Granted, in the latest DC New 52 revamp, the new Superman is a bit rougher around the edges, the general public remembers Superman as a symbol of hope and positivity. I don’t know if they will like a mopey and ponderous Man of Steel.

Of course, I will reserve comment until I see some footage from the film. But still…
