Legendary’s King Kong-related film Skull Island is heading through development with an ultimate eye on a November 4, 2016 release with the studio bringing on a second screenwriter to work on the script. Acadmey Award-nominated Flight writer John Gatins will be working on a new draft of the project’s script, working from a draft turned in by Max Borenstein.

Borenstein is moving on from one giant monster franchise to another, taking on scripting duties for Legendary’s Godzilla sequel, which is already scheduled for June 8, 2018 release.

Skull Island was a surprise announcement from Legendary at this past summer’s San Diego Comic Con. Jordan Vogt-Roberts is set to direct and Tom Hiddleston has already been signed to star.
