I don’t know if this is a sign of desperation or confidence after Suicide Squad‘s weekend results, but The Wrap has announced today that Man of Steel 2 has just gone into active development.
The site says that Superman is a high priority for the studio, and they want to use the sequel to portray the character right in the eyes of the fans. Funny that they would wait until the third film to start worring about that, but that’s Warners for you.
No word on when we can expect the sequel. DC has a firm schedule of DC Comics movies up to 2020, but does have two free dates reserved for DC films on Oct. 5, 2018 and Nov. 1, 2019. Logic states that the aforementioned The Batman will take the 2018 spot, leaving Man of Steel 2 for 2019, but that’s not etched in stone.
Superman will be next seen in Justice League on November 17, 2017.
