Remember a couple of weeks ago when we reported on The OneRing.net’s rumor that Peter Jackson was trying to decide between working on Amazon’s Lord of the Rings TV series or a film in the DC Extended Universe? Apparently Jackson went with option # 3, the “I was never in discussions with either” option.
The bad news came from an interview with French outlet Allocine where Jackson was promoting his forthcoming Mortal Engines film. Regarding the Lord of the Rings show, he said this:
I’m not involved at all in the ‘Lord of the Rings’ series. I understand how my name could come up, but there is nothing happening with me on this project.
And comic book fans, brace yourself, because this might break your heart. This is what he said when shooting down the DCEU rumor:
That’s not true. I had no discussions about that. I’m not a fan of comics, I’ve never read any, so I’m not particularly interested in adapting one for cinema. That’s not true at all. I’m not involved in any DC film or ‘Lord of The Rings’ series but I’m ok with it, I have plenty other projects that keep me busy.
Knowing he doesn’t like comics would have hurt so much more if he didn’t sound so darn polite saying it.
So, there you go. Adjust your hopes and dreams accordingly, and we will make note that TheOneRing.net is not to be trusted.
